How Does Microsoft Teams Phone Work?

Teams Phone replaces traditional PBXs and enables key calling capabilities with a cloud-based call control system that provides the overall telephony workload for Teams.

Teams subscriptions include Teams Phone, which enables calls from one Teams app to another. The ability to make and receive calls to and from landlines and mobile phones through the PSTN is available as an ATG|voice add-on with the Teams Phone Standard. 

These combined options provide a powerful collaborative cloud-based phone system in Teams with features such as hold, blind and safe transfers, and reporting features for professionals who manage calling solutions. 

Can I make phone calls when outside the office from our primary office number?

Microsoft Teams Phone + ATG|voice provides complete PBX capabilities for your organization allowing you to make calls to numbers outside of your organization via the PSTN.

Can I port my existing numbers?

Yes, ATG handles all of that to make a seamless transition. We can also order desktop phones, provide training and manage your other M365 applications. 

Are there modern features?

Yes, auto attendant, call groups, time conditions, voicemail, transcription and call queues are easily configurable to suit your organization’s work flow inside and outside the office. 

Do I need to buy a desk phone?

No. You can use the desktop Teams application, web browser or download the app for iOS (Apple) and Android and have full functionality.
